Today hot and sunny. Evening weather is fine.

Above picture shows Kallang Theatre or Indoor Stadium. Many shows are staged here like Disney shows etc. It is just resides behind Singapore National Stadium.

This morning went for 2km jogging. Afternoon went back to office to work, surprised to receive internal MSN message from Serene and she is also working OT on Sunday. I realised that people tends to be much more social especially when they are alone for a shortwhile.

Tonight must settle my office project work.

World Events: MidEast war continue, Israel incursion into Lebanon yesterday, trying to create 40km buffer zone to prevent rocket firing into Israel. China Yunan had an earthquark yesterday.

Saturday, July 22, 2006

Today hot and sunny day, evening weather is fine.

Above picture shows Singapore Bridge over Singapore River, a rather old bridge since early 1900's.

Today whole day busy with MBA 650 assignment, just submitted homework. Tonight can practice piano lo!

Evening went for shopping at Ang Mo Kio Central and found many items are rather cheap.

World Events: MidEast war is getting worst every day where Israel is preparing to march into Lebanon.

Friday, July 21, 2006

Today sunny and hot. Evening weather is fine.

Above picture shows Victoria Concert Hall, which used to host the SSO and other many other concerts. Today most of the concerts are conducted at Esplanade Concert Hall (The Durian).

Today have learned that even in office working relationship, we must work in such as way to accomodate each others, this allows hamonise working relationship, don't try to win everywhere and every case. This works very well and people appreciate (including your boss).

This evening went for 2km walk and feel very good. Tonight must start my MBA homework, otherwise will be late.

World Events: MidEast war continues and seem like fighting temo has raised significantly.

Today sunny and hot. Evening weather is fine. Hazy weather is on the way, news reported that KL is having hazy weather.

The above picture shows a fantatics pictures taken by Voyager, it shows Uranus and its five moons appear in this montage of images taken by Voyager 2 during its January 1986 flyby of the planet. Uranus appears in the center as a uniformly blue globe, much as it would appear to the eye of a passenger aboard the spacecraft. This picture was taken when Voyager fly at about 50,000km from the Uranus, and Voyager was about 3.6 billion km from Earth.
Today was a busy day and afternoon attended military exercise at Lim Chu Kang. This evening went for 2km walk and decided to play piano instead of doing my MBA homework.
World Events: MidEast war is getting worse and many people are suffering in Lebanon.

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Today rain most of the time, very heavy rain during lunch time. Evening weather is fine and cooling.

The above picture shows Jupiter taken by Voyager 1, which is about 25 years ago, that explains why the picture is not so clear because camera technology was not great at that time due to lower resolution.

This afternoon found out that GreatChoice Plan offers by Great Eastern, which promises 4.9% payout interest with 7 years deposit period and principle sum protected. But the website says that there is 1% annual management fee but that does not affect 4.9% annual payout! I can sense that something is not right because likely I am not going to get 4.9% payout. Perhaps better to put in fixed deposit with 3.288% interest which is guaranteed!

Today very busy at work and don't feel like doing anything at night, perhaps some piano practice will do.

World Events: MidEast war is still on. Many people especially foreigners not able to get out of Lebanon because the international airport was closed as runways are all destroyed. They have to get out by land or by sea.

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

Today sunny and hot. Evening weather is fine. Above picture shows the last view by Voyager 1 when the spacecraft fly pass Saturn, a fantastic view, it shows the direction of sun from the right and the ring block by the planet, what a fantastic view!

Today my old friend came talk to me and told me about many stories, including those office politics stories. He kept talking like water tap running and cannot closed the tap, I have testing at 5pm but he was still talking, but I can't shut-off the tap, so eventually I wait till the 'water' ran dried and I was late for my testing by 30 mins.

Tonight went for 2km walk and later practice piano.

World Events: War in MidEast still on, hope that Iran and Syria don't drag into it. Tsunami hitted Java yesterday and produced 3m wave due to earthquark from the sea.

Today sunny and hot. Evening weather is fine.

Above picture shows the hardy, long-lived spacecraft approaches the edge of our solar system, called the heliopause, where the sun's influence ends and the solar wind smashes into the thin gas between the stars. How far exactly? It takes nearly 12 hours for a command signal travelling at speed of light to reach Voyager, that means the sunlight will need to take about 12 hours to reach Voyager today.

Voyager 1 has already passed the termination shock, where the million-mile-per-hour solar wind abruptly slows and becomes denser and hotter as it presses against interstellar gas. It was expected the wind beyond the shock would slow to a few hundred thousand miles per hour. But the Voyager scientists were surprised to find that the speed was much less, and at times the wind appeared to be flowing back inward toward the sun.

Today Spaceshutter Discovery landed just now. Also, the war in MidEast is intensifying now.

This morning raining for short period, afternoon sunny and hot, evening weather is fine.

Above picture shows Voyager launched by NASA in 1980. The two Voyager (1 and 2) are now at the edge of our solar system and getting out very soon. The two spacecraft already travelled 26 years and still travelling. Amazing!

This morning just before I wanted to go jogging, heavy rain came and has to abort my plan, instead go makan, try few things like the peanut pan-cake (the one claims to be the King of Pan-Cake), taste very nice. Also try to black sesamin paste, the bowl of sesamin paste is warmed and very good, I enjoyed eating it. Will go back to take the black sesamin paste again.

Today busy with my MBA650 homework, managed to settle all 3 assignments (1 last night, 2 of them today) and sent in, can relax for the moment. No time for piano, no time for my office project work also.

Space shutter Discovery still in the space and not return yet, and having some hydraulic leaks. Israel's Haifa city got attacked by rocket again this afternoon, look at there is great danger of big war in Middle East if Syria were to join in the war.

Saturday, July 15, 2006

Today sunny and not so hot, evening weather is fine. The above pictures show Neptune taken from Hubble Telescope which is orbital around the earth, unlike Voyager spacecraft which flew to Neptune (in yesterday Blog) which is much clearer as it was taken 5,000km away.

Neptune is the outermost planet of the gas giants. If Neptune were hollow, it could contain nearly 60 Earths. Neptune orbits the Sun every 165 years because it is so far away from the Sun (How far? It takes 20 minutes for the signal to travel at speed of light to reach our Earth!). It has eight moons. A day on Neptune is 16 hours and 6.7 minutes.

This morning went back to office trying to do as much work as possible. Went to OCBC bank and found that the bank closed so early at 1130hrs! Perhaps we should be more considerate as they have to work 6 days a week.

Also, this morning a group of middle age men (6 of 7 of them) riding sport bike with sport gears/helmets etc. All of them riding on the road and swing in/out of the one-lane traffic, many vehicles horn at them because they just swing in/out but they got angry and keep 'pointing' at the drivers, don't know why they didn't think of safety just because they are middle age! I guess.

This afternoon spent whole afternoon to work on my project documentation. Feel very lazy about the MBA course, I think just go practice piano pieces and also the Chopin Op 9 No 1.

Friday, July 14, 2006

This morning very heavy rain especially around 8.30-9.30am. Afternoon sunny, evening fine weather.

Above picture shows one of our planet Neptune, picture taken in the summer of 1989, when NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft fly pass planet Neptune, at a distance of about 5,000km from the blue planet.

Another picture shows the ring of the planet Neptune, before this, no one knew that Neptune also has ring like Saturn.

It is noted Voyager took 12 years to start from Earth and arrived at Neptune, at a speed of few hundred thousand km/hr!

Today there is a BOD meeting but I skipped and save me 2.5 hours to do my own work. I only attended last part of meeting which is only about 45 mins.

This evening went for 2km walk. The situation is Israel is very tense right now as they are facing two front wars.

.

Today sunny but not hot. Evening weather is fine.

The above picture shows Singapore Merlion, it is situated at the entrance of Singapore River. I remembered when I was very young, I did an art piece on this Merlion on thin copper art piece, and press out the profiles of Merlion with some 3D effect.

Today my friend in STAero is very angry about the comments and accusation that someone did to him.

This evening went for 2km walk and feel very good. Just got to know my final results/grade for my subject that I took previously (88 with Grade A and GPA 4.0, don't know how they come out this combination). Anyway going for piano practice first.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006

This morning raining througout, afternoon sunshine, evening fine weather.

The above picture shows Chwee Kway which is a teamed rice cake topped with preserved radish, very nice especially with some chilli source.

This morning meeting at NTU to establish another R&D arm at NTU Thermal & Fluid Division.

This afternoon rushing for 2pm meeting, but end up the meeting supposed to start at 2.30pm. Because of rushing, I only took half of my lunch to save time.

This evening went for 2km walk and try to remember the piano piece.

By the way, what is the significant number for 6,000,000? The answer is 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 7 ! [this is what I found out when I see the answer! What a good answer!!]

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Today sunny but not so hot. The above picture shows Singapore oldest fire station - called Central Fire Station in the city, just opposite Victoria Street.

Today had a long meeting from 2pm to 7pm, sit there for so long, lucky in between there is a long presentation where I can go out for a short break.

This evening went for 2km walk and feel very good. Don't feel like doing MBA homework although some kiasu people already did two assignments already. Instead spend time to play and practice piano.

Monday, July 10, 2006

Last night (early morning) heavy rain, this morning and afternoon light rain non-stop, this evening fine weather.

The above picture shows CHIJ church.

Yesterday early morning Italy beat France and won the world cup. Many people soooo hardworking and stay till throughout the night to watch world caup, and than took half-day leave to sleep at home after the match.

Today one engineer was caught not working enough hours, works only about 50% of time, the other 50% of time don't know go where! So terrible!

Tonight I am free from homework, don't want to study, just practice piano.

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Morning sunny, afternoon raining, evening weather is fine.

This shows one of the store in Little India at Serangoon Road in Singapore selling Indian food.

This morning sunny and went for jogging, immediately after the run feel hungry and went to Prata cafe to eat Roti Prata.

This afternoon cloudy and raining nonstop for whole afternoon. Relax and didn't do MBA homework, rather spent most time on piano.
Maggie SMS me and told me that she is so happy that she got a big payout for her performance bonus.
World cup final France vs Italy today early morning. I can speak to my friend in France at Paris about this when I meet them next time. I can also speak to my friend in Germany next time I meet them at Munich.
Also found this article to share with you. Very useful for everyone to adopt this 90/10 Principle.
Discover the 90/10 Principle.

By Stephen Covey (Management Guru)

It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations). What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%.

The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.

How? By your reaction. You cannot control a red light., but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; you can control how you react.

Let's use an example. You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just what happened. What happens when the next will be determined by how you react.

You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase.

Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home, When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter.

Why? Because of how you reacted in the morning. Why did you have a bad day?
A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?

The answer is " D".

You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened.

Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "It's okay, honey, you just need, to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different.

Why? Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction.

Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle.

If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? (A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them? Who cares if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive?

Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it.

You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job. The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse. Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it.

The 90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle.

The result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle.
It can change your life!

Today hot and sunny.

The picture above shows Clark Quay along Singapore River. The one on the left is day time scene, the one on the right is night time scene.
Found out today that I have lots of performance bonus for this year. Very happy. This evening went to Ang Mo Kio Central and eat Mee Rubus and Satay, quite nice. The Ang Mo Kio central is rather big and there are many shops around, many things to buy and eat.

Finally, I just finished my MBA homework (Part 2 and Part 3) and just submitted. I can now relax and go practice my piano tonight.

Friday, July 07, 2006

Today hot and sunny. The above picture shows fried Kway Teow from Singapore. The yellow round noddle made of flour, but the flat noddle made of rice flour. The black colour comes from the adding of sweet source and also the normal dark source, I love this but avoid eating too often because it is rather oily.

Today Israel army entered into Gaza deeper to create buffer zone to ensure their Kassam rocket can't reach their nearer city.

Today rather busy at work, didn't go for lesson.

Thursday, July 06, 2006

Today cloudy and heavy rain in the morning. The picture on top shows eggplant that has been fried with chili and dry prawn. This disc goes very well with plain rice.

Yesterday NASA launched Space Shutter Discovery. Yesterday North Korea also launched 7 missiles (including the long range one which failed after launched).
Today JA received lots of bonus and very happy. Today I must try to complete Part 2 of my MBA homework partially, forget about piano for the moment.

Monday, July 03, 2006

Last night and early morning heavy rain, very nice to sleep. Today hot and sunny.

The above picture shows the Buboh Cha Cha. This was served warm and contained corn and yams among other things, that had been simmered in coconut milk. It was quite delicious. I like this desert very much especially the hot one, I don't quite like the cold type.
Today went to NTU Aerospace with Maggie to meet up for research colloboration. Surprisingly saw an OCBC bank in NTU campus!
Tonight spent sometime playing piano and doing MBA homework, worry about the difficult homework! (due this coming Sunday).

Today hot and sunny day.
The picture above shows Beef Rendang or Beef "Curry" with spicy gravy. This goes very well with plain coconut rice if you can find one, otherwise plain rice is also very nice. This is one of the well known Malay food.

Today managed to complete one part of MBA650 assignment and submitted. Today will give a break and go for piano.
Today another part of article found in Internet which is very useful:
Positive Thinking and Positive People
By Remez Sasson

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that sees the bright side of life.
Positive thinking is a mental attitude and state of mind, which focuses on the full half of the glass and not on the empty half. It is a mental attitude that expects positive results.
People with a positive frame of mind think about possibilities, growth, expansion and success. They expect happiness, health, love and good relationships. They think in terms of 'I can', 'I am able' and 'I will succeed'.
Positive thinking people are not daunted by failures and obstacles. If things don't turn out well or as expected, they will try again.
True positive thinking is not just saying that everything will be okay, as a lip service, and at the same time think about failure. In order to bring beneficial changes and improvement into your life, positive thinking has to become your predominant mental attitude throughout the day. It has to turn into a way of life.
Real and effective positive thinking requires that you focus on positive thoughts and positive emotions, and also take positive action.

Today is hot and sunny.

The above picture shows the black glutinous rice that has been cooked, it is cooked till very sticky and then a thin layer of white coconut milk on top of the sticky black glutinous rice. It tastes very good when serves warm. According to chinese, the black glutinous rice was only serves to the emperior during the accent time.

Today whole day busy with MBA650 e-Business course homework. No time to practice piano for the 3 exam pieces, hopefully can find sometime at night to practice if progress of the homework is good.

This evening went for 2km walk. Also found something from the internet regarding positive thinking to share with you.

Positive Thinking Your Key To Success
By Remez Sasson

Positive thinking brings inner peace, success, improved relationships and better health. The daily affairs of life move more smoothly, life brightens up, and there is more happiness and satisfaction.

Positive thinking is contagious. People around you pick your mental moods and are effected accordingly. Think about happiness, good health and success, and you will cause people to like you and desire to help you, because they enjoy the vibrations that a positive mind emits.

In order to make positive thinking yield results, some inner work is necessary. You need to develop a positive attitude toward life, expect a successful outcome of whatever you do, and also take any necessary actions to ensure your success.

Effective positive thinking that brings results is much more than just repeating a few positive words or telling yourself that everything is going to be all right. It has to be your predominant mental attitude. It is not enough to think positively for a few moments, and then letting fears and lack of belief enter your mind. As said earlier, some effort and inner work are necessary. Are you willing to make a real inner change? Are you willing to change the way you think? Are you willing to possess a mental power that can positively affect you, your environment and the people around you?

Here are a few actions and tips to help you develop the power of positive thinking:

1. Always use only positive words in your inner dialogues. Use words such as, I can, I am able, it is possible, it can be done, etc.

2. Accompany your inner dialogues with feelings of happiness, strength and success.

3. Do not heed negative thoughts. Calmly refuse to think these thoughts, and substitute them with constructive happy thoughts.

4. In your conversations with other people use words that evoke scenes of strength, happiness and success in their minds.

5. Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome. If you visualize with concentration and faith, you will be amazed at the results.

6. Read at least one page of inspiring literature every day.

7. Watch movies that make you happy.

8. Listen to the news and read the papers, but do that sparingly and with detachment.

9. Associate yourself with people who think positively.

10. Always sit and walk with your back straight. This will strengthen your confidence and inner strength.

11. Walk, swim or engage in some other physical activity. This helps to develop a more positive attitude.

Think positive and expect only favorable results and situations, even if currently your life is not as you wish it to be, and in time your mental attitude and your your life circumstances will change accordingly.

Follow the tips and suggestions in this article, and prove for yourself the power of positive thinking.

When you say "I can", and expect success, you fill yourself with confidence and happiness.

Fill your mind with light, happiness, hope, feelings of security and strength, and soon your life will reflect these qualities.
